Abd Al Malik

In collaboration with Romain Cieutat, I created videos for the music video 'Daniel Darc' and, together with Romain Cieutat and Alexandre Gomez, animations for Abd Al Malik's 'Scarifications Tour' concerts in 2015/2016. These videos were crafted using Houdini, Processing, and TouchDesigner during my internship at Monoburo. The animations were showcased at Gaité Lyrique and during the 'Scarifications Tour' concerts.

The project involved creating particle simulations and generative visuals for the visual identity of Abd Al Malik's 2016 tour. I worked on the chorus scenes of the music video, scanning the singer with a Kinect to generate a point cloud. These data were then used to create a particle emission surface. The particles were continuously generated and guided by a wind simulation, creating dynamic particle flows that resembled roots in the virtual space. The process was highly experimental, with the poetic sense of the simulation sequences emerging through continuous testing and graphic research. The goal was to explore the expressive and symbolic possibilities of point cloud data and particle simulations.
